Find Your Voice. Have A Choice.

Meet Jontue
My name is Jontue Todor.
I am a family mediator based in Kitchener, Ontario. I have a passionate heart for families and restoration. I deeply value communication, and want to work with you if there are problems or conflict you need to solve with others, but are not sure how to.
Mediation provides the unique opportunity to solve difficult problems while lessening tension. I'm a graduate of the York University family meditation certificate program, and I'm ready to help you and your family discover resolution.

Getting STarted
The Family Mediation Process
This is a broad overview of the general flow of family mediation.

Intake
When you contact Freedom Mediation, I will coordinate and screen all people invovlved to assess whether mediation is right for your situation.

Goal Setting
After all people agree to mediation, we'll lay out the ground rules for our conversations as well as discussing the desired outcomes and objectives.

Sessions
At our sessions, each person will have an opportunity to share their perspectives and thoughts. I will work diligently to create a safe environment for conversation and understanding.

Agreement
When we come to consensus, I will work with each person involved to formalize a written agreement that is clear, mutual, and meets everyone's needs.
Before mediation sessions begin, the mediator will meet with you and the other person separately in order to:
- Introduce myself and provide initial information to put you all at ease.
- Hear the history of the case from each of your perspectives.
- Try to understand what has hindered you from being able to sort it out so far.
- Explain the processes and how mediations normally proceed.
- Assess whether mediation is appropriate considering your particular circumstances.
- Explain the confidentiality of the process to each of you.
- Identify the issues likely to be discussed at mediation.
What's Mediation All About?
Is mediation right for you?
Mediation provides a confidential, supportive, and constructive environment where people can resolve disputes and work towards mutually beneficial solutions. It's an opportunity to explore if mediation is the right choice for you and your family or another person you are dealing with.

Have a choice. Find your voice.
In mediation, you have the opportunity to express your concerns, needs, and desires. It's a chance to have a voice and actively participate in the decision-making process, ensuring that your choices are heard and considered.

A different plan than legal fees.
Legal fees can be a significant burden on families. Mediation offers a cost-effective alternative, saving time and money while resolving conflicts in a supportive and non-adversarial manner.

How Much Does Family Mediation Cost?
The cost of family mediation in Ontario varies from place to place, but mediation is almost certainly going to save you money over going through the court system.
The hourly rate is $300 plus tax.
For the first appointment, each party will pay up front for an individual meeting. After that, sessions are paid for on a pay as you go schedule (24 hours after each session), and are paid via e-transfer.
Both people will continue to split the session amount each time, or (depending on the situation to mediate), one party will pay for the session each time.
At approximately half the price of lawyer’s fees, mediation is a money-smart alternative to litigation. More than that, mediation gives you a powerful advantage: you and your partner pay less while also retaining the power to choose – to decide for your family what is best, rather than being at the mercy of a judge or the system.
The BIGGEST advantage of mediation is that unless both parties agree, nothing is set in stone, and no further steps are taken. You will both learn together how to relearn working together.
By investing financially in solving arguments, creating solutions to problems, and employing the strategies I share, we can invest in your family’s future by breaking generational patterns for the next generation to come. What you deal with now, your family will not have to fight about later.
I want to encourage you, that with hard work and perseverance, this is one of the wisest financial decisions with your family in mind you can make.
